Job description
Admission Scholarship socio-economic and technical evaluation of intelligent energy systems require electrical power system model of the system. Wilmar stochastic optimization model (see here) is designed for modeling electricity markets with high share of fluctuating renewable electricity production. It has been used in several projects such as the international wind integration studies European wind integration (EWIS). Wilmar model has a resolution time per hour, but it is also important to model and analyze up and down within hours of power production regulation and market power related to intra-clock.
Topic of PhD project is to develop a model for intra-hour labor market with a resolution time of 5 minutes that can interact with the Wilmar model. This model should be able to handle the flexible electrical units such as electricity storage, electric vehicles and electric heat pumps. A similar models already in development stage company with energinet.dk TSO in Denmark, and a PhD student will use the existing work on the topic as a starting point. PhD scholarship is funded by and will be part of major new research project started about the electricity needs flexible activation is called iPower.
